He is professor and director of the chair “Hydrology for a Resilient City” at the Hydrology, Meteorology and Complexity (HM&Co) laboratory, of which he was the founder. Daniel Schertzer is a member of the Board of the UNESCO Digital Campus on Complex Systems, the Board of the Global Urban Governance Think Tank Alliance, the European Geosciences Union (EGU) Publication Committee, the executive committees of the Nonlinear Sections of the EGU and the American Geosciences Union (AGU) after having previously served on their respective boards as well as being member of the boards of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences and European Academy of Wind Energy. In 2008, Schertzer was AGU Lorenz Lecturer and received the Silver Medal of the City of Paris in 2009 and the EGU Lewis Fry Richardson Medal in 2015.
