Roger Frank is an Honorary Professor of the \u00c9cole nationale des ponts et chauss\u00e9es (ENPC) and Emeritus Research Director with the Navier Laboratory (geotechnical team – CERMES). He has devoted his entire career to the ‘Ponts et Chauss\u00e9es’ (the French Bridges and Highways Administration), at the central laboratory (LCPC) and then at the national school (ENPC). His main field of expertise is in situ testing and foundation engineering. He was the Director of the teaching and research laboratory CERMES, common to ENPC and LCPC, from 1993 to 2002. From 1998 to 2004, he was the Chairman of the European committee in charge of Eurocode 7 on \u2018Geotechnical design\u2019. He was the President of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) for the period 2013-2017.
